DIY QUILLED MINI LEGS

Hi friends.. 

Today I am going to introduce you the art of Quilling.. For those who don’t know what it is, read the para below.. courtesy wikipedia ;)

Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is rolled, looped, curled, twisted and otherwise manipulated to create shapes which make up designs to decorate greetings cards, pictures, boxes, eggs, and to make models, jewellery, mobiles etc

 Saw this design in etsy shop… Couldn't stop making one...

Things you need

Strips of paper 

Glue

Quilling tool

Scissors

                                                                                                                                                           

 Here I have made two basic shapes in quilling..

First one is tear drop shape. To make this we need 2 big tear drops(2 normal length papers are used) and 2 small tear drops(one long paper is cut into 2).

Second shape is called tight coil

DIY FRINGED FLOWER MAGNET

Hi all...

This post is for all the magnet lovers there..

Isnt it lovely...?

Things you need

Quilling paper strips

Quilling needle

Magnet

Glue

Take two paper strips of different width

Fold and cut the bigger paper like this

Now glue two strips together

Start rolling from the yellow side first using quilling needle and apply glue once it is finished..

stick magnet using glue at the bottom

I made one more magnet like this.. This time I used 2 colors in the middle..

KERALA MURAL PAINTING

You might be thinking where I had vanished these days…I had gone to my native place to attend a family function, When I came back I was shocked by seeing my blog hits… It has increased a good number than what I had expected…Thank you so much for the love and support that you are giving me…

On this Occasion of Ganesha Chaturthi I thought of uploading one of my paintings which I completed recently … This typical type of painting is called Kerala mural painting. These are drawn on the walls of ancient temples and churches in south India… But now a day’s we use canvas/clothes to make them.

Only 5 colors are used for doing this painting, white, yellow, red, black and green.. Now a days blue color is also being used…

You should follow some rules before you start the painting. Since these are usually paintings of Gods , our body and mind should be pure and clean, Should pray before starting the painting everyday....Even for painting the eye there are some special days..This type of paintings are very time consuming but you will cherish the output..

PRETTY LIVING ROOM DECOR WITH A CHUNK OF WOOD

This time my visit to Nainital had fetched me some really old wooden pieces. You know I couldn’t leave them behind on my way back. After coming back my first job was to get it into some attractive form so that I could flaunt it in my living room :).

 I made this

First I Washed the wood and kept it in open sunlight to dry completely. Once it dried, I  cleaned  it using a sandpaper to make the surface of the wood smooth. In order to make it look appealing I applied two wood coats over it (to get the shiny look). Apply the second coat only after the first coat has dried. Sorry people, in a hurry I just forgot to take a snap of the wooden piece after applying the wood coat.

It looked good but I found something missing. Then I took a coconut shell and broke it in to small pieces ( Just broke them randomly).. I took three different sized pieces , one big , one medium and a small piece. 

Cleaned the hard surface of coconut shell with knife and applied the same wood coat. Next job was to stick these on to the wooden piece so that it can act as stand for candles. But still I couldn’t stop. I wanted some thing colorful so that my living room looked lively. So I planned to stick some colored dry leaves on to the broken coconut shell which I had already stuck on the wooden piece. 

Next job was to color  the candle base with the same color as that of the dry leaves stuck on the coconut shell . I used hobby ideas color for this...

Tips

To remove the varnish from your brush keep it in a bowl with turpentine after your work.. Clean it with water after sometime..

CUSTOMIZED PHOTO FRAME

Hi friends…

I had bought a photo frame from IKEA when I had gone to my sister’s place… I thought I will decorate it this week.. 

I took some colored stones which was already there in my collection.

At first I colored it with the color of my stone…Otherwise there is a chance for the frame patches to be visible after fixing the stone. The color used is poster color.

 After that I started sticking the stones . As usual I used fevicol for sticking this…

I got 2 more frames like this… Will try some different shades on them and post. Wish a store like IKEA was there in India too…
